how to shrink the queue - 2008/04/15 08:00 Who does not hate to stand (or sit) for hours in a queue for the reward to get your turn to pay and renew your licenses?

The real simple way to eliminate this completely is to include the possibility to renew your vehicle license for a longer period than 12 months. At 24 months renewal period a big part of the transaction load will be halved. If people are rewarded with discount for using longer renewal periods then this will definitely gradually reduce any backlogs and the queue length.

And the department will benefit as well - less work, same effect.

Re:how to shrink the queue - 2008/04/16 04:41 The public finance management act requires the involved authorities to increase fees annually, thus this is one reason why licence fees are annual.
All the provinces send renewal notices to the postal addresses of owners. This may be returned by mail accompanied by a cheque or postal order. The licence will be mailed back to the owner. For this to work, the owner's postal address must be correct.
Renewal of licences at the banks' ATM or internet payment is in an advanced state of negotiation with the banks.
