Code-3 vehicle registration - 2008/08/13 01:25 Does anyone know what the procedure is to register a Code-3 vehicle? What paperwork is required?

Any help will be appreciated.
I would like to avoid any red tape and do things as quick as possible.

Thanks
Robert

Re:Code-3 vehicle registration - 2008/08/16 06:22 What is the history of the vehicle? Was it registered previously or have you built it from parts?

Re:Code-3 vehicle registration - 2008/08/22 22:54 The vehicle was previously registered but was scraped due to accident damage. The chassis is only partially damaged. I’m sourcing various parts to restore the chassis to its original condition. The engine and various other mechanical parts will come from different sources. So yes, I'm building it from parts.
Are there any special things I have to consider doing it this way, besides what is required to reregister it again?

Thanks
Robert

Re:Code-3 vehicle registration - 2008/08/25 19:21 Hi Robert,
It appears that you will rebuild the scrapped vehicle, thus retain its full history as the chassis number / VIN will stay the same.
Refer to http://www.enatis.com/component/option,com_openwiki/Itemid,44/ id,registration_of_a_vehicle_built_up_from_parts/. Most important factor is traceability - where all the parts come from.
Depending on whether the record is still on the live register or has been archived, the route differs a bit. Your appropriate registering authority will be able to assist you once the application is submitted.

Re:Code-3 vehicle registration - 2008/08/28 00:45 Thanks for the reply, it helps a lot.
Seem logical that being able to present all proof of purchase for the various parts will be required. I have kept all the receipts so far. So that is not the problem.
I’m a bit unclear about the following:

“If such motor vehicle has been built up from a motor vehicle which has become permanently unfit for use as a motor vehicle and has been deregistered, the deregistration certificate in respect of such motor vehicle, or an affidavit containing evidence of the fact that the motor vehicle was previously permanently unfit for use.”

The damage on the vehicle chassis was not that severe and my only conclusion is that it was scraped due to the cost of repairing it, mechanical parts were extensively damaged. Would the above then still apply?
Where can I obtain this “Deregistration certificate”?

Re:Code-3 vehicle registration - 2008/08/28 06:57 You have to obtain the certificate from the current title holder. The authority will be able to tell you who the current title holder is.

Re:Code-3 vehicle registration - 2008/08/28 19:34 Thanks, got the certificate from the previous owner of the car.
Now it's just paperwork and the time to do it.
