Scrapped Vehicle - Help Needed - 2008/07/10 19:29 Hi there. I got an old Audi 500SE from somebody I know but this vehicle has been scrapped from the system, and details have been archived. What a mission it's turning out to be to get this vehicle back unto the system. The previous owner does not want to offer much help besides confirming transfer of ownership via an Affidavit etc, but that is not the problem. The problem is to identify the correct process and license authority. I live in Centurion but my physical address falls under Ekhurhuleni Metro. I went to Langlaagte to have a police identification done, but after waiting for hours I was told that I should be taking the vehicle somewhere in Kempton Park. Can somebody please tell me what the correct procedure is to follow, where I should go and which documents I will be needing?

AS far as I know, this is what needs to be done:

1. Get a sale agreement or NCO Form with previous owners affidavit and ID
2. Take the vehicle on a trailer to ??? for Police Identification
3. Take the vehicle to ??? to a weighbridge
4. Use documents obtained in 1,2,3 to get a copy of the registration/deregistration papers
5. Use own affidavit and documenst from 1-4 to apply for re-introduction to the system. I will settle outstanding license fees.
6. When re-introduction has been completed, roadworthy tests etc for vehicle licensing.

Please help, I'm really frustrated as phoning does not help at all!

Re:Scrapped Vehicle - Help Needed - 2008/07/17 19:42 Sorry, you gave me the licence number. I need the register number, something in the format AAA999A probably ending in an 'A', 'R' or 'C'. The chassis or engine number is too risky in this open environment.

Re:Scrapped Vehicle - Help Needed - 2008/07/17 20:22 Hi Roelof,

Where do I find the register number? I don't have any other documentation of the car, and so far I have not been able to get a certificate/duplicate of previous registration papers. I can give you the VIN/Enjin Number but as you mentioned this public forum is not the place to do it. You can contact me at jacomuller@webmail.co.za if that would make things easier.

Your help is much appreciated.

Regards

Jaco
