Registering Vehicle Across Provinces - 2008/05/29 18:56 Hi there,
I've sold my vehicle. As i understand, there is basically a 2 step process to Transfer the Vehicle into the New Owners Name:

The Transfer:
1] I need to Transfer my vehicle RDW533GP from Wesbank's Name to my Name.
2] New owner must Transfer the Vehicle from my Name to his Name.

The Complication:
New Owner is in KZN-DBN. I am in Gauteng with the vehicle Registered in Gauteng.
Why can't both transfers listed above occur in KZN? Surely your systems are integrated across Provinces. If the fees differ across Provinces, this is understandable, but surely the KZN department should be able to assist.

Re:Registering Vehicle Across Provinces - 2008/05/30 00:41 A single database is used, but every person have to apply for motor vehicle registration, licensing etc. at their appropriate registering authority. An appropriate registering authority is appointed for a specific geographical area. Your appropriate registering authority is the one in whose area your street address is located. The system enforces this relationship in accordance with the legal requirements.
