Upload of D/L Particulars onto Database - 2008/03/06 20:51 I am a foreigner currently residing in South Africa and a holder of South African Code B driving license. I am currently waiting for my driving license details to be loaded or merged with a newly issued traffic registration number. It's now close to two months since I've been waiting. As I need a replacement license card for my lost one, under the new system this cannot be done until the traffic registration number is merged with driving license particulars. Moreover, I cannot get a temporary license document under the new system. What this means is I cannot even lease a vehicle when going about my professional/personal activities. Visits and calls to the provincial traffic department offices have been to no avail as no one can give me an indication of when the merging will eventually be done. Apparently, this has to done at Head Office through a third party..

Could someone please clarify when this merging will be done, or at least why it is taking this long to my inconvenience.

Re:Upload of D/L Particulars onto Database - 2008/03/08 17:53 Hi gtj, we can help if you provide the reference number, such as HD<lots of zero's>28275. It is too risky to put the traffic register number on this forum.

Re:Upload of D/L Particulars onto Database - 2008/03/10 18:46 Thanks roelof for you reply. The reference number I got from the Department of Transport provincial offices (Western Cape) is 27835. I don't know whether this is similar/equivalent to the information you want. Thanks.

Re:Upload of D/L Particulars onto Database - 2008/03/11 03:47 I had a look at your problem. The first time around, the user incorrectly specified your passport as a foreign ID. We have specified the required steps to rectify your problem.

Re:Upload of D/L Particulars onto Database - 2008/03/11 04:12 Excellent! I really appreciate your efforts in getting the problem rectified. I presume no further action is required from me. How long then do I still need to wait?

Again, thanks a lot for your helpful service

Re:Upload of D/L Particulars onto Database - 2008/03/14 20:16 Checked again today and merging of TRN and license particulars not yet done. Is there someone I can actually contact wherever it is this database update is done (apparently a sub-contractor) as they seem to be the responsible party for my ever-growing woes? If I can at the very least get an indication of how long it takes that'll be helpful to an extent.

PS: BTW, the Traffic Dept. doesn't provide courtesy drivers, even if one's not to blame for their admin. bungle.

Re:Upload of D/L Particulars onto Database - 2008/03/17 22:27 I agree that the required actions have not been taken yet. Your problem was assigned to Jerom van Niekerk at the Western Cape Help Desk on 2008-03-11. I have added more info in the work log of call HD27835. The Stellenboch registering authority actually has the necessary access profile to continue with the merge process immediately, so that we can 'switch around' the ID numbers so that the TRN becomes the current ID.

A DLTC cannot issue handwritten documents, they have to do it on the system.

Re:Upload of D/L Particulars onto Database - 2008/03/28 23:24 UPDATE:
------

The merger process still seems impossible to do. Jerom van Niekerk has been in touch with Pretoria and, as of this afternoon (28/03/2008:14:18) none of the suggestions he has received have worked, i.e. my details haven't been merged with the TRN.

I just don't know...

Re:Upload of D/L Particulars onto Database - 2008/04/01 20:15 Your details have been merged on 2008-03-28 as per instruction of 2008-02-15, authorisation given on 2008-03-31 to change the IDs around so that the TRN will appear on documents.
