Vehicle licence renewal returned - 2008/08/19 00:57 I received a licence renewal in the post stating that my licence expired 31/07/2008. I sent a cheque on the 20th of July for the amount stated on the notice, but they returned it with an eNaTis query stating that I now owe an extra R51.15 for due after fee. The query was done on 29/07/2008 (before the expiry date), so what is this fee for and why didn't they accept my cheque? How am I supposed to know what to pay now without going into the office?
This is the second time this has happened.

Re:Vehicle licence renewal returned - 2008/08/22 00:28 The renewal notice for the trailer indicates a fee of R96.00 plus the transaction fee of R30.00 for a total of R126.00. The R51.15 you refer to was generated on 2008-07-03, after the notice data was extracted on 2008-06-02. This fee was created due to your selling of a Volksiebus of which the licence expired on 2008-05-31 but the new owner's ownership start date is only 2008-07-03. The normal transaction for renewals, which is what the notice is made for, ignores arrears and penalties generated within 2 months before the vehicle's licence expiry date to ease postal renewals. The authority may apply tendered payment to the oldest owed fee first. Note that tomorrow 22 Aug is the last day for payment without being charged a penalty for late licensing of the trailer in question.
