ppp_ibusi_clp_handtyping_cDaily transaction volumes of more than 600,000 were recorded on the National Traffic Information System (eNaTIS) on three occasions during September, with the most transactions (611,361) being recorded on 04 September. A total of 11,372,335 transactions were performed during September, slightly lower than the 12,980,790 transactions performed during the previous month. Transactions performed during September included 59,526 learner’s licence authorisations, 138,908 driving licence card orders, 67,931 vehicle record introductions, 259,308 vehicle registrations and 740,224 vehicle licensing transactions. In addition, 89,010 reports were executed on the system. These reports are utilised for, among others, financial reconciliations and audits.

Daily transaction volumes of more than 600,000 were recorded on three occasions during September.

System availability was 100% during business hours and the lower transaction volumes can be ascribed to the fact that there was a public holiday and a four-day school holiday during September. In addition, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa reported that the strike in the automotive component sector affected production and therefore also new vehicle sales in all sectors.

A total number of 3,572,305 transactions were performed via interfaces with other computer systems (such as those of the South African Police Service, vehicle manufacturers, banks and insurance companies), while users of the eNaTIS application (at registering authorities, testing stations and provincial authorities) performed 7,800,030 transactions.

The Johannesburg user group performed the most transactions (684,760) followed by the City of Cape Town (536,215), Pretoria (502,744), Durban (280,494) and Port Elizabeth (158,144).

With 67,874 transactions DaimlerChrysler was the most active vehicle manufacturer using a system-to-system interface with the eNaTIS, followed by Volkswagen (60,603), Toyota (49,163), General Motors (41,936) and the Ford Motor Company (32,868).
