The eNaTIS went live on 13 April countrywide and since then capacity constraints had been identified.  During the weekend of 5 and 6 May 2007 server upgrades and other interventions were performed on the eNaTIS data centre to increase capacity.  It could not be completed during the weekend and the system was not available for transactions on Monday 7 May 2007.  The system availability before these interventions was 93%.

Interventions successful

These interventions proved to be highly successful.  Before the interventions an average 400,000 transactions were performed per day on the eNaTIS.  After the interventions 598,000 and 687,000 transactions were performed on 8 May and 9 May 2007 respectively.  A 100% availability has been achieved and the system has not been down at any stage.  A lot of month-end procedures were performed by service centres and the eNaTIS handled the additional load well and all system components operated in a very stable manner.

The system operating hours have also been extended to allow service centres to extend their office hours if they want to.  eNaTIS will be available from 6am to 9pm during week days and from 6am to 2pm on Saturdays.  These hours will be reviewed once the backlog that was created as a result of system capacity constraints has been eliminated.  The public is advised to confirm the business hours of individual service centres, because not all of them might be working extended hours.

In respect of motor vehicle registrations, an average of 13,500 registrations per day was performed on the old NaTIS system since January 2007.  Before the interventions eNaTIS perform and average of 11,000 motor vehicle registrations per day.  After the interventions 14,000 and 17,400 registrations were performed on 8 and 9 May respectively.

A similar trend was identified with vehicle licensing transactions.  The old NaTIS system performed an average of 33,000 vehicle licensing transactions per day since January 2007.  The eNaTIS performed an average of 25,500 per day before interventions, whilst 42,421 and 50,045 vehicle licensing transactions were performed on 8 and 9 May 2007 respectively.
