The National Department of Transport can finally announce the go-live date for the eNaTIS. After careful consideration, the go-live date has been set for 13 April 2007.

Term

Explanation

eDate

·          The date on which the eNaTIS is commissioned and goes live.

·          This date is 13 April 2007.

Data extraction day

·          The day on which the NaTIS is temporarily shut down. The NaTIS data is copied onto tapes and the NaTIS is restarted after the copy process is concluded.

Changeover period

·          This is the period from the data extraction day to eDate.

·          The official changeover period is from 05 April to 12 April 2007.

·          During this period the NaTIS will be available for queries only.

·          In addition the copied NaTIS data is loaded onto the eNaTIS central data base.

·          Access to all NaTIS transactions is blocked and only queries on persons and vehicles may be performed.

NaTIS

·          The current National Traffic Information System which has been in operation since 1993.

eNaTIS

·          The new, web-based National Traffic Information System which will come into operation on 13 April 2007.

 
The Department will in due course publish further information that may affect the broader NaTIS community. In the period leading up to eDate various tasks, tests and objectives will also be communicated.
