A total of 37 234 new vehicle registrations* were recorded on the National Traffic Information System (eNaTIS) in June 2009, representing a 25.58% decrease as compared to June 2008 (when 50 031 new vehicle registrations were recorded). Looking at the bigger picture, the 530 903 new vehicle registrations recorded from July 2008 to June 2009 represent a 29.11% decrease when compared to the 748 897 registrations recorded from July 2007 to June 2008. ppp_itran_clp_car_interior_s_99.pngBetween July 2008 and June 2009, 1 388 705 used vehicle registrations* were recorded on the eNaTIS. This represents a very slight decrease of 0.34% when compared to the 1 393 467 transactions recorded between July 2007 and June 2008.

The system’s overall performance during June 2009 was once again excellent with uptime of 100% during business hours and fast transaction speeds.

The eNaTIS recorded a total of 13 722 302 transactions in June 2009. Compared to May 2009, significant increases were experienced in vehicle registrations (up by 6.01%), vehicle licensing transactions (up by 3.53%) and driving licence card authorisations (up by 3.28%).

The Johannesburg service centre once again performed the most transactions (763 198) followed by Ekurhuleni (646 556), Pretoria (615 430), the City of Cape Town (579 516) and Durban (334 213).

With 54 770 transactions First National Bank was the most active non-governmental entity using a system-to-system interface with the eNaTIS, followed by BMW SA (46 350), TransUnion HPI (41 352), Volkswagen of SA (31 646) and General Motors SA (28 512).
