Following the consistent month-on-month decreases in new vehicle registrations experienced thus far this year, eNaTIS statistics show that there was a small increase during September 2009: 42 079 such transactions were recorded as opposed to 41 570 in August.

ppp_itran_clp_car_s_99.pngThe year-on-year picture remains bleak; during September 18.71% fewer new vehicle registrations were recorded than during the corresponding month last year.
In September 2009 used vehicle registrations, which have been increasing for some time now, dipped very slightly compared to the previous month (123 817 such registrations compared to 124 291 in August), but a year-on-year comparison between September 2009 and September 2008 shows a healthy increase of 6.14%.

South Africa’s live vehicle population now stands at 9 533 444.
