More vehicle introduction transactions in November |

In November 2009 the National Traffic Information System (eNaTIS) recorded 20.86% more vehicle introductions than in the preceding month (61 590 as opposed to 50 960). This also represents a 9.26% increase compared to November 2008.
All the other main transaction categories (learner’s licence authorisations, driving licence authorisations, vehicle registration transactions, vehicle licensing transactions and reports executed) displayed a decrease compared to the previous month, yet there was an increase in each category compared to November 2008.
New vehicle registrations dropped by 18.3% compared to the previous month, and 13.6% compared to November 2008.
The decrease in used vehicle registrations was less marked: 2.8% compared to the previous month. Compared to November 2008, transactions of this nature increased by 12.62%.
South Africa’s live vehicle population now stands at 9 576 285.
Overall the total transaction volume on the eNaTIS decreased by 4.81% compared to the previous month.
The Johannesburg service centre once again performed the highest number of transactions (815 1250) followed by Pretoria (702 795), Ekurhuleni (651 766), Cape Town (613 931) and Durban (338 394).
The most active non-government entity using an interface to the eNaTIS was First National Bank (338 394) followed by Mercedes-Benz of SA (52 513), BMW SA (41 455), TransUnion HPI (37 058) and Volkswagen of SA (35 924).
