Continuing the trend set in October 2008, the National Traffic Information System (eNaTIS) processed more than 600 000 daily transactions on no fewer than eight occasions in November 2008 and came close to the 700 000 mark on three days. With 697 107 transactions, Monday, 03 November 2008 was the busiest day. System performance was flawless and the high volumes were handled effortlessly.

The system processed a total of 12 942 920 transactions during November. 4 084 158 interface transactions* and 8 757 124 user transactions** were performed in this month.

The Johannesburg service centre once again performed the most transactions (719 931) followed by the City of Cape Town (588 273), Pretoria (534 418), Durban (302 088) and Port Elizabeth (157 799).

With 57 457 transactions Mercedes-Benz of SA was the most active non-governmental entity using a system-to-system interface with the eNaTIS, followed by BMW SA (50 984), VW of SA (43 957), TransUnion HPI (33 969) and Toyota SA (33 605).

* Interface transactions are performed on other computer systems that have interfaces to the eNaTIS (such as those of the South African Police Service, vehicle manufacturers, banks and insurance companies).
** User transactions are performed by users of the eNaTIS application at registering authorities, testing stations and provincial authorities.
